What an awesome way to use that picture! Very creative. I like the stylized
water you did, as well as the texture it has. The whole background matches the
coloring style of the scan really well ^^
It looks to me like you ran that stock photo through way too many filters. Your
scan is softly painted, but the background, the leaves, are edgy and pixelated.
The text completely doesn't match, and in fact, doesn't even look like it was
done in the same program... I think you should work more on bringing all the
elements in your wallpapers together, so that it doesn't look so random and
slapped together.
I really like what you did with the image, the textures and lighting on it
really help it blend with the background. I like your choice of images for the
photos as well. The drop shadows would be annoying if they weren't so consistent
on everything in the wall, so they work overall. The only thing that I'd change
(or get rid of altogether) is the text. Maybe more fading was necessary or like,
small readable text on top of a more blurry, unreadable ghost-like text layer,
cause the text is more like "whisperings" and it could be better
illustrated that way.
Your last few walls are looking extremely formulaic, even for grunge. This wall
looks like you just exchanged the Rei character in your last one for Athrun.
Grunge doesn't always have to be the same colors, and at least you should vary
the textures more if you're going to be doing this many grunge wallpapers. Even
though you've textured the character, it still looks like an after thought. The
text is also barely visible. If you're not trying to say something, and they
text isn't aesthetic, why include it at all? So, just some things to think about
and put toward your next wallpaper, since I've been perusing your work ^^
Oh, lovely job. My copy came in the mail this past week, and you've probably
noticed as I did that the illustration gallery images are a bit on the small
side. That being said, a vector of that last Haydee picture---the one from the
DVD cover on the last gallery page---you should definitely vector it :3 Well,
it's what I'd most like to see anyway... <3
Anyhow, they make a nice set of walls based off the dust cover ^^
The details are very "uniform." You didn't say whether you were going
for realism or not, but if you were, when you tear a newspaper in real life, it
doesn't look like you used a brush in photoshop evenly across the edges.
Uneven-ness and irregularity would make this look less pasted on. The newspaper
texture doesn't look like newspaper either, more like a generic paper texture.
Also the watch placement would be better served sitting on the newspaper scrap,
as it would act more like a paper weight and there could be curling up of the
edges on the newspaper which would result in different shading on the wood,
wrinkling and other details to make it more interesting to look at.
Anyhow, nice job, it's very clean and I like the brand-spanking new watch.
O.O Awesome! Great text too. The whole scene really looks like a video game
screenshot, so you did a wonderful job composing it ^^ And yesh, no planets so
bonus points for that Makes
me want to play the game too, just to see what all the Albel fuss is about
Okay, so, here's the fangirl in me ...And
some SPOILERS!
When Roy first came to Rizenbul, I thought it wasn't actually to meet Ed and Al
and deliver a note as he used as an excuse, but to admit what he did to Winry's
parents. And when he first comes in, Ed and Al are completely distraught, having
lost limb and nearly life. So when Roy proposes the idea of the military and
getting their bodies back, it's like a second chance for them. You can only
wonder what might have happened if Roy had never showed up. They might not have
burned down their house, and left everything behind like they did. And at the
same time, it was like redemption for Roy, because while he sort of destroyed
Winry's happy family life, he was able to give hope to Ed and Al again after
losing their mother a second time.
And that's why I made that background, cause I see it as a turning point for all
three of them.
Quote by kalicodreamzi'm iffy about
the trees, but at the same time i love them. reminds me of scenery from a
ballet, and thats kinda what the whole anime is about, so it works.
You know, I have a look in mind when I start these things. And that's the idea
behind it, it's a stage, everything's a prop. That's why the trees are bigger in
the back, think of it as: you have a large sheet, with tiny trees behind it, and
you use one light source to project their sihlouettes onto the sheet. That's how
you create a forest and not have that many trees. Then, the ones on the stages
are props and even. But altogether, it creates the forest. I take it not too
many people have been to plays or ballets from the responses here. I'm also
suprised that so many people's creativity forces them to be "normal"
trees. :/ They don't look normal to me. Nor do they look real, because they're
not supposed.
The invisible hands? Yeah I drew those, and as they were so time consuming I
decided to leave the background pretty empty, cause like, otherwise, it'd
detract from their glory ;D
I do like the concept of the background, it really shows a lot of thought went
into it and I like the little details. But the image quality really looks like a
re-sized, over-compressed scan, and it makes the background look even more
blurry in comparison.
This is like my 5th time trying to post a reply...
But it's worth it, just to say beautiful job recreating this image! I hope you
do watch FMA and get to like it so that you'll make more of these lovely walls
;D
The thumbnail absolutely does no justice to this wall. After a glance, the only
reason I clicked it is well, cause it's by Sandy---and I'm so glad I did ^^
There's so much detail in it and the tones of the background match her
perfectly. And the rounded out beach makes it even more convincing that we're
peeking in at her. Yeah, great stuff ^^
I like the wings you added. I think it would look cooler too if the birds were more anime style than real.
That's beautiful! I love the addition of the rain drops, it really draws you in.
I watched the show! It's awful, but the art is still pretty, as is your vector ^^
Why not just say you downloaded it from animepaper.net and I scanned it? There is a place for that in the MT form. :|
Wow, that turned out beautifully! I'm so glad you decided to take on that challenge ^^
Haha, excellent, thanks. Hadn't checked there recently... Now to get past the 3 scans a day o_o Even thought it did just let me upload 5...

Oh nice, great colors in this! Even though I feel the planets/moons are getting cliched, they really work in this wall ^^ Nice image choice as well!

Really slick, I love the look of it. And kudos to you on the title design, it suits the wall perfectly ^^

Man, you totally extracted that from my wallpaper and it does not fit in your mongolian chop shop. lllllllama.

Nice work Gallcomp. I really like the colors you used, it'd look really good in a flat kind of tech-vector wall too using that theme. :3
It's not the complete title, the whole title is "Iriya no Sora , UFO no Natsu."
